There’s something light and magic about The River Knows. The album gathers songs, the majority of which were written over two years, but in parts go back several decades. It originates in a specific stance to the world, in a specific way of perceiving it. The same river is never the same. It changes constantly, as does the person who enters it, contemplates it, sings about it. The River Knows is sung poetry. It is about a peculiar relation between words and music and how both is brought to life with a performative act. And that is what fascinates Andreas about music. “Why do so many artists make music? The immediacy that is inherent in music is so great. When you play the music live, you perform it. It’s different every time. Even if you play the same piece. It’s always different. It’s not like that with pictures. Pictures on display are like frozen. They don’t change anymore. Music remains changeable. That’s why it’s very important for me.”
